No talent needed

I know I'm not really old enough to start bitching about the youth of our nation, but it's not gonna stop me. Things have got to change!
I'm going to give you a simple test. Go to youtube.com and do a search for Bark at the Moon, Free bird, or Sweet child of mine. Go ahead and do it. Where once you'd see music videos from Ozzy Osborne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Guns n' Roses (or normal guys with guitars playing the songs), you'll now find NERDS posting videos of themselves playing GUITAR HERO!
Freakin weak! As both a guitar player and a video gamer, I can appreciate "guitar hero" for what it is, a game. But some people just don't know how to draw the line between actually doing something, and faking it.
Even my own 10 year old cousin has fallen into this trap. He is amazing at this game, but his real guitar sits in a pile of dust in the corner. I keep telling him that if he practiced even HALF as much on his real guitar as he did the fake one, he'd really be able to shred. But I guess playing a real instrument is too old school for him.
And what's worse than guitar hero, is that now there's "Rock Band" that comes with guitar, bass, fake microphone, and fake drum shaped controllers! Gone are the days of confused teens forming bands with their friends in the garage to try and impress girls, now they have a game to do it all for them.
What's next? Will we become a society in 10 years where nobody needs to be talented at anything anymore, because there's a video game that allows us to fake it and sound better? We gotta make a change people, but how?

Clones

You ever seen the movie "Multiplicity", with Michael Keaton? It's about a guy who's so caught up in his job that he has no time for anything else. He's given the opportunity to be cloned, and things go crazy. It's a pretty good flick, you should check it out. But here's where I got thinking, just how much fun would it be to have a clone....really. I've always thought it would be cool to clone myself. Then I would have someone bad ass I could race, someone I could Jam with, someone to help me train, etc. But then it hit me, I would really piss me off!
Think about it, I love riding my motorcycle, it's my favorite thing. If my clone and I had Identical bikes and had the same time to practice on the same track, it would be a very boring race. There wouldn't be anywhere I was faster than he, we'd be thinking of the same lines, and hitting the same jumps at the same speed (because we're the same!)
Playing guitar with myself might be cool, except I'd have nobody to play the lead parts. It would just be the 2 of us playing the same notes the same way.
And I know I would get on my nerves. Comedy needs a victim, that's just the way it is. Every joke I've ever told was always at someone else's expense. I would get tired of making fun of myself and try to kick my clone's ass! But that in itself would be a quandry! How good of a fight could erupt between two people of identical strength, size, build, and fighting style? It would be stalemate.
On second thought, I'll stay cloneless. If only for the sake of my own sanity.

Yeah, I'm pretty deep. Thanks for reading.
